A Truly Monstrous Christmas

My first theatrical knitting opportunity came in the shape of creating two unbelievably ugly jumpers for the Christmas Special of BBC show Rock and Chips (a prequel to Only Fools and Horses). I was asked by designer for the show, Jacky Levy, to make two not only revolting, but ridiculously badly made jumpers for a young Del and his father for the Christmas Day scene. Here they are in all their glory:

My own photo’s from the set, please do not reproduce without permission

To appreciate them in action, see the clip in which they were used:

It’s amazing that all that work went into making them and that was all they were used for in the entire show! It was a fantastic experience though and I would love to do more in this area.

(The other knitting in this scene, and an extraordinary knitted sari that features later were made by the wonderful theatrical knitter Hilary Sleiman and the designer Jacky Levy)
